Spay and neuter
Digital radiology (x-rays)
A veterinary consultation will cover all aspects of your pet’s health care. This is the time when you can discuss your pet’s behaviour, along with any health concerns and questions you may have for the vet.
Same as your annual checkup by a physician .So should your pet by veterinarian. Examination consists of a complete Physical exam of your pet and collecting relevant any medical history which in turns leads to timely and effective treatments. A wellness test gives us a base line blood profile which provides us with information about physical status of your pet which may not be evident upon the physical exam. These should be done at least once a year.
Vaccination and wellness program is critical to your pet’s health:
As we know prevention always better and more cost effective than the care of the disease. For example the treatment of parvo disease can cost 10X more than a single parvovirus vaccination. To plan the appropriate course of vaccination and deworming are very important for keeping your dog and cat healthy over their life time. In the first year of their lives, cats and dogs require vaccinations around 8,12, and 16 weeks of age. During their adult lives cats and dogs require annual vaccinations, deworming, and wellness testing to prevent many diseases. With regular testing, dogs and cats vaccination and checkups can help your pet live longer, healthier life.
Annual vaccinations for dogs:
Annual vaccinations for cats:
Canadian Law requires that the rabies vaccine be given yearly to cats even if the cat lives indoors
Puppy and kitten vaccines
A good vaccine program starts around 8 weeks of age with boosters’ vaccines being given 4 weeks apart until puppy/kitten reaches 16 weeks of age. Rabies vaccines for puppy and kitten once around 16 weeks of age, then given once yearly. Feline leukemia vaccine for kittens is given at 10 weeks of age.
Annual boosters are given to ensure that your pet’s immune system responds to the vaccine and the pet is protected from disease. Of course not all pets need all these vaccines. Our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about which vaccinations are right for your pet.
Surgery is oftentimes a necessary procedure to promote and treat your pet’s health. Our surgical procedures include Desexing, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery
Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring
During surgical procedure, anesthesia protocol is planned according to age, breed, procedure, and physical condition of pet and parameters like Heart rate, oxygenation, capillary refill time and blood pressure are constantly monitored and maintained during anesthesia.
Dental disease is one of the most common problems we see in veterinary medicine. Dental disease can lead to constant pain and spread infections to other internal organs in dogs and cats. By doing thorough examinations we assess the dental health accordingly, make recommendations ranging from brushing, dental food, or other product to help with dental hygiene. If needed we have all the equipment required to do routine scale polish and extractions.
Diagnostic Imaging: Digital X-Rays
We are equipped with digital x-ray machine which has many benefits. It helps us in quickly and accurately identifying any abnormalities. The pet is exposed to the least amount of x-rays as the machine produces high contrast images and there is less retake. X-ray images can be seen on computer monitor and if needed, they can be sent to Radiologist via email for expert opinion.
Spay, Neuter, Declaw, and Soft Tissue services
Spay and neuter surgeries are done to prevent reproduction of pets. It can also help prevent certain disease conditions like mammary tumors, uterine infections, testicular cancer, prostate cancer or perianal tumor.
Declaw surgery can be done in cats at the same time as the spay/neuter surgery. These routines are soft tissue surgeries like exploratory laparotomy, cystotomy, pyometra, laceration repair, etc. are all done in our surgical suite equipped with modern anesthesia machine. It has capabilities of handling anesthesia for small as well as large sized animals and has monitoring devices for blood pressure, heartbeat, and oxygenation.
The veterinarians at New Street are able to diagnose your pet of any internal issues they may be having. We will treat and prescribe medications to ensure your pet is properly cared for.
We use M4S ID microchip for pet security. It is a tiny chip implanted under the skin which gives a unique identification number when scanned by microchip scanner which helps find the necessary information to contact the owner.
